We were contracted to build an online presenece for Deadly Life. It was important that the website appeal to indigenous Australians, be easy to use and update, and encourage interation and discussion through an online blog.

The website includes:

  • Indigenous themed design with kangaroo footprints
  • Torn paper border effect similar in appearance to that of Aboriginal painting canvases
  • Sandy background behind website template
  • Clear and user friendly text in Century Gothic font
  • Random fading image slideshow to keep each page looking fresh and interesting
  • Logo repeated as a watermark in website content to aid and reinforce branding
  • ‘Have a Yarn’ blog which encourages website visitor to post comments. Each blog post includes a feature quote to draw attention to the main message of the post.

The custom-built cms incorporates the ability to:

  • Manage page content (edit page text, insert and position images, links etc)
  • Manage blog (create new blog posts, manage blog comments etc)

Other usability / seo features:

  • The logo links back to the home page (good for usability)
  • All home page links point to the full url http://www.deadlylife.com.au rather than index.php to avoid link popularity dilution
  • Unique title tags (good for seo)
  • Valid xhtml 1.0 transitional
